Apostle visit

Hi Family,

My stomachs has been feeling better the last couple days, probably because I got more picky about what I eat. I think I will do fine until I get to Panama hopefully. The temple was really cool, it was all in Spanish but I still learned a lot. Were going to the temple today, so there will be more time to try and understand Spanish. The inside of the Mexico temple is kind of like the Jordan River, it was built in 1983 so it makes sense. D. Todd Christofferson was great, he spoke in Spanish but we had a translator so we could understand everything. After his talk, we all shook his hand. When I shook his hand he said he was looking for me, that was cool.  Me and my companion are doing well.
On Sunday we watched Sister Monson's funeral, the music in the funeral was so amazing and the talks were also good. I wish I could listen to those songs again. ¿Did you watch the  funeral?  The latino missionaries left on Monday and new ones will come today, will we miss the old ones, they were so much fun, but Monday and Tuesday night was great because it was so quiet in the dorm rooms. The latino missionaries love to talk late at night.

The teachers here are very nice and I've learned a lot. I'm really glad I am in Mexico. Our district has already become very close. When we leave the MTC, I will really miss the missionaries going to Honduras.

During Elder Christoffersons talk he mentioned one way we can always fill the spirit is to pray and just give thanks.

Thanks for all the prayers, I'm very thankful Grants is praying for me, that is so funny. I'll be looking forward to Grandma's letter.

Should of had a Coke

Thanks for all the emails, its going great here. So I’m not at the México high school. I am at the CMM (MTC) in México City. We are the first American group to be in this MTC. We are always speaking to the Latino missionaries. The MTC is on the temple site and is surrounded by a large fence and gate. Right outside the temple gate is insane, when you think of poor México its right outside the gate, the temple grounds are so clean and safe, but right outside it is very poor. We walked outside the gate today with a leader and it was so cool, along the sidewalk people set up little shops to buy food, it smelt very good. The language is coming along; I stress out about it a lot but it’s coming along. The food is ok, it doesn’t settle in your stomach well at all, yesterday morning our entire district was having stomach aches. I’ve had a stomach aches about every day, hopefully I will get used to the food here, most of the food tastes pretty good. When I went outside today I really wished I would have bought a Coke to make my stomach feel better. I’m starting to run every morning at 6:00, the altitude here is about 7000 feet so the air is pretty thin. Everybody besides the American branch speaks Spanish, there are 7 people going to Panama in our group. Unfortunately we wear suits every day, so I can only were my 4 black pants because the gray and brown pants don’t match my suit. It is hot here but not too bad only when you’re wearing a suit outside in the middle of the day. I’m going to the temple today and I’m really excited. Our P-day is on Wednesday but tomorrow D. Todd Chrisofferson is coming to the CCM so we had P-day today. The people here are really nice, they always smile and say hello to the missionaries. I got to give a blessing to my companion this week and it was very cool. I’ve never given one before and I didn’t realize how the spirit tells you everything to say.

I’m very grateful for your emails. Every day here (besides P day) we are working the entire day, which makes days feel very long. It feels like I’ve been here for a month, it’s weird I’ve only been here one week.

Love, Eric Weston

P.S. Thank you Sarah for writing me.

Also, look up a picture of the Mexico CityTemple its very cool looking.

First letter from the Mexico MTC

Eric leaves for the Mexico MTC tomorrow.

Family,
I made it to the Mexico MTC. Its right next to the Mexico City Temple. The flight was good. There are about 20 missionaries from America about half are going to Panama and the other half are going to Honduras. Today about 70 native speakers will come to the MTC so our group will be the only group learning Spanish. It is hot, not is hot as Utah, and its humid. My companion is Elder Kipp, he is from Riverton. Someone met us at the airport. The food is alright. There are no high school students. On the way to the MTC from the airport we fit about 9 Elders and everybodys suit cases in a small van, that was a fun ride! All the missionaries seem very nice. It is weird hearing so many people speak Spanish. Our room is very small, I will send you a picture in the future. We haven't had any classes yet.

Love Eric
