Sabbath Day

Dear Family,

This week was great! We had 3 baptisms on Saturday, three little girls from less active parents that go to church with there families that live by them.  It was a really cool experience. Then on Sunday we had an assistance, 96, the highest I've seen in the branch. It's really cool seeing this branch growing in a short time. The parents of the girls we baptized came to church on Sunday, I was really happy about that to. Our goal is to have 100 members come to church every week.

After Church we saw one of the members and his son doing ''Visits'' (home teaching). This member about two weeks ago was drinking about everyday. And he came up to us drunk crying and saying he didn't want to lose his family. So it's really special to see a change in him, and a change in his family.

I don't have changes so I will stay here for another six weeks, I'm really happy because I'm really enjoying this area. Elder Valdez is really cool, and we will continue to work really hard.

Dear Family,

Thanks for the letters, Wow the weather sounds terrible, sometimes I see the news here and they always say in New York that it's freezing. I do not miss the smog, to bad you guys are feeling sick. The Panamanians are always saying they are sick. It might just be because they are making excuses not to go Church, but they are always taking something for coughs. Halls cough drops are literally candy here.

I was thinking this week about keeping the Sabbath day holy. Sometimes we go to Church and think you aren't learning anything or I've heard this lesson before. But we need to realize going to Church is more than just hearing lessons.  We go to Church because it's a commandment. That should be a good enough reason for everybody to go to Church. Also we partake of the Sacrament which is another commandment, and it gives us strength for the rest of the week. Also going to Church every week shows your desire to continue to follow Christ. Sometimes we think we are only missing lessons, but it's a lot more then that.

Love you,

Elder Weston

Right place at the right time

Dear Family,

Thank you for the letters. Fast Sunday went really well, a lot of people gave testimonies. An interesting part of the testimony meeting here is usually they give testimonies as families. So when one person goes up, the rest of the family goes up also. Then the family stands by them as they talk. We had 85 people come to Church and about 50 of them bore testimonies. Nobody here bares there testimony for very long, usually between 1 - 2 minutes but we still ended like 20 minutes late. Our recent convert bore his testimony and It was awesome. Everybody got quite and started listening.
We had interviews with the President this week and they went very well. He then bought pizza for us.

That's cool you guys are studying the pearl of great price. While studying Moses Chapter 2, I gotten really confused. I have questions on the order God created the earth, if you have time can you help me with that?

I'm going to the temple this week on Thursday with my district, It's going to be sweet.

Right now it gets dark at about7:00pm so normal, I bet it changes at different times of the year. It sounds like you guys had a fun New Year. I hope you guys can go snowboarding soon. I do miss the cold weather a bit, but I don't miss the smog. That's funny the cut out of McKay scared you.

This week we had a cool experience, we were working in our area and we had two lessons fall which was kinda disappointing but we continued with our schedule. so we started to walk to the next lesson, and I thought we could go to this one family who is less active because were a little early. Right when we passed by there house and said Hi, one of the teenagers ran out of the house crying. We were not sure what was going on, and a bit later they told us there dad was in a car accident. We offered a prayer in there house, and that really helped comfort them. There dad is fine, but I believe God put us there at the right time so we could offer a prayer and give comfort.

Thank you for your letters and your support.
