Talent show

Dear Family,

We had a great week, on Tuesday we had zone conference. It was really cool because I got to see Elder Kipp, Elder Johnson, Elder Lopez, and almost everyone from my MTC group, all my companions that are still in the mission. It was really lucky because there were 3 different conference and almost everybody I know went to this one.  The mission President gave talks, and we played games and ate a lot of pizza.

I hope you guys have a lot of fun at girls camp! Try not to freeze, and if you get cold just imagine that you are in Panama.

In the mission we are getting a lot of new missionaries, a lot of missionaries are leaving this next change, so I imagine that a lot of new missionaries will come these next few changes. The next transfers are on the 9th of July.

We try not to watch the world cup for too long, but it's playing everywhere.

This Friday we had a talent show in the ward, it was a lot of fun, but I did make a fool out of myself, but the good thing is it made everybody laugh. In the talent shows basically everybody sings. But I sang and danced. Ask Sarah, how well I dance, and when I say dance I mean just goof off to music.

This week we had a baptism his name is J...., there entire family are already members, they lived in San Blas (the islands in Panama), but when they moved they stopped going to church. But one day the sister of J.... started talking to us on the bus, we found out where they lived and now they have been going to church for the last few weeks. He's nine years old. The pants for the baptism were too big so we used my tie like a cool karate belt. It was really great, we did the baptism after church so a lot of members came to watch. The chances of finding his sister on a bus are very little, but I know God will put us on the right path and will help us find the families that need us.

Love you all,
Elder Weston

"rompe huesos"

Dear Family,

I got the letters from Grandma Jane and all the little notes the family sent to me. Tell Grandma thank you I really enjoyed reading the letters. I also got my camera charger. I prepared my talk and everything and wrote it all out, but we ran out of time so I wasn't able to share it all, only a testimony. I was happy and disappointed, I was happy because I don't really like speaking in front of people, but I did prepare for quite a few hours but that's OK. I will write as much of my talk as I can in this letter.

My companion and I are doing well and we continue to work hard. We continue visiting a lot of less active members. Yesterday a less active member told us that is really bad to walk in clothes that are wet from the rain because if you walk in wet clothes you can get ''rompe huesos'' (broken bones). She told us you will first get a cold and then you will get rompe huesos and this sickness will make you fill like all of your bones are broken and you will have to stay in the house for 12 days. According to her the rain and the heat are very dangerous. What I learned is these people are not doctors.

Hows your summer going? That's a cool mola, I have seen a lot of mola here, I want to buy more.

My talk was about missionary work and the importance of the family in this work. In the general conference of 2013 the Prophet Thomas S. Monson said. Now is the time for members and missionaries to come together, to work together, to labor in the Lord’s vineyard to bring souls unto Him. He has prepared the means for us to share the gospel in a multitude of ways, and He will assist us in our labors if we will act in faith to fulfill His work.

How can we work together? We have to know our jobs. In the 2008 General Conference David A. Bednar said this about our prayers and missionary work

We properly pray for the safety and success of the full-time missionaries throughout the world. And a common element in many of our prayers is the quest that the missionaries will be led to individuals and families who are prepared to receive the message of the Restoration. But ultimately it is my responsibility and your responsibility to find people for the missionaries to teach. Missionaries are full-time teachers; you and I are full-time finders. And you and I as lifelong missionaries should not be praying for the full-time missionaries to do our work!

In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints we believe families can be eternal. I believe that the best people the members can find for the missionaries are there own family members. We all have family members that are not members of the church, we never should lose hope that our family members can change. I have 5 tips to help our families come to Christ so that we can become Eternal Families.

1. Have Faith,  miracles happen and people Can Change
- The Prodigal Son- Luke chapter 15
- Alma the younger Mosiah Chapter 27
- The family of a missionary (Elder Quimiz I think I've already told you)

2. Share your testimonies with your family members. Alma 4:19, seeing no way that he might reclaim them save it were in bearing down in pure testimony.

3. Always Invite. Invite the missionaries to come and speak with your families.

4. Never speak badly about other members of the church. Moses 7:18

5 . Be an Example. Matthew 5:14-16

I used the talk by Elder Richard G. Scott ''I have given you an Example"- 2014.

Love,
Elder Weston
