Costco

Dear Family,

Thank you for your letters, it sounds like your Youth Conference was a lot of fun and that you guys had a lot of activities planned.

The funny thing is for P-day we went to Costco, well here it's called Pricemart but it's the same thing, we bought a pizza, and muffins. The store made me feel
like I was in the states, except that everything was in Spanish. Tell Sam Paepke good luck for me, yes he was our home teacher while I was home. I've been writing Mckay, that's so cool he's working at a university.

We had a good week, we had a baptism, It was really cool I felt the spirit really strong. Before the baptism we had an activity with the ward, the missionaries planned a lot of games to play and a lot ofmembers came. It got a little stressful because it was really competitive but once the baptism started I felt really calm.  We have been working a lot with this investigator, she got married and we could finally baptize her.  After the activity and the baptism we had to go to the other missionary house (there are 4 missionaries in the ward) but it was really late so we stayed at there house. The good thing is there house is way better then our house.  We continue working well my companion and I. This week we are going to the Temple I'm really excited.  I'm sending you pictures of the baptism and picture of my agendas. The missionaries almost always put pictures on the agendas

1. To make them look cool.
2. It keeps it protected from the rain.
We did a couple of service projects for the members.  In also all our service projects with the members we use machetes, I still find joy in swinging a machete. The bad thing is I usually don't bring my camera to service projects so I don't have any cool pictures of me swinging a machete.

I really enjoyed this week and I'm glad you guys had such a fun time at Temple Square and could fill the spirit there.

I love you guys so much.

More time in our areas

Dear Family,

Thank you for your letters, My companion and I didn't have changes.  The President wants the missionaries to stay in the areas for more time instead of changing every few months. So I will probably
stay here in Chorrera for 3 more months, it will be fun. I'm still here with Elder Mejia, and I think this next week will be better, the World Cup is really cool but it's really distracting.

Last week, after I wrote you guys, I went and visited my converts in my first area, only one was at home but she is still active which makes me so happy.  This week we have been working with the young men of the ward doing visits. There was a young man that never used to come to Church but
now that he's been doing visits with us he's coming to Church more and it's helping him a lot. That's to bad there aren't missionaries at home for the young men to leave with and help teach lessons. But do the Priests still visit members after Church like they did when I was there? I think that is such a good idea and home teaching is good practice for the young men.

Thank you for the pictures of the family, that's great the entire family could go to the Roof and have a good time.  Have fun at youth conference. If you are going to send me a package send me photos and letters also.

This week for P-day I believe we are just going to the Stake Center to play sports, it will be fun.
I continue to learn so much, I'm really grateful for the blessings of the Gospel in my life, we avoid so many problems if we will live righteously and listen to the prophet. No matter where we live or who we are we will have challenges but the teachings of the Gospel will help us so much.
Love you all,
Elder Weston

Fasting

Dear Family,

Thank you for your letter. It sounds like you guys had a great 4th of July, we didn't do to anything to celebrate the 4th, while we were trying to find people to teach a guy told us ''I'm busy, the game is on TV and I won't be able to focus so come again another day''. This week is the last week of the World Cup, so this Tuesday,Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday will be pretty tough.

The mission doesn't you to send food in the packages but you can send it if you want, also I want duck tape . That's cool you all are going to eat at the Roof.  I hope you guys have a great time and Happy Anniversary Grandma and Grandpa.

We had a good week, we continue to work hard, it's been rainy and cloudy. Today for P day we found a Peru restaurant and my companion wanted to eat there, it was really good.

Yesterday, I had a good Fast Sunday. I focused a lot on the talk you sent me last week. In the talk the Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin said, "When we Fast, brothers and sisters, we feel hunger. And for a short time,we literally put ourselves in the position of the hungry and the needy. As we do so, we have greater understanding of the deprivations they might feel."

As I fasted I kept on thinking of the people who might receive the blessings and it helped me get through the day. I thought this was interesting that we don't eat foot so another people can receive food, in the same may Jesus suffered the sins of all of us, so we don't have to suffer. Or as we go to the temple and be baptized for someone who couldn't be baptized here on earth. Its all vicarious work.

I hope you guys have a great week

I love you,
Elder Weston

Cinta Costera

Dear Family,

Thank you for your letters, we had a good week this week. And it sounds like girls camp was a lot of fun that's so cool that the Sister Oscarson came to your girls camp, to bad it was kind a cold but it sounds like you guys had bunch of fun activities. That's funny you saw the picture of our District with the mustaches. On Tuesday we went to the temple and I had a great time there. The temple always makes you fill so much better. I hope I get to go back soon.

On Saturday we had a really fun ward activity, the ward took a bus to the CintaCostera 3, its a road and a walkway that stretches over the ocean. The bishop said if we brought investigators we could go. We had a few investigators come and we really had a good time, I will send you pictures of it.
That's cool Dad watched the Columbia and Uruguay game, when they made there second goal we were at a house, that had it playing in the other room and I saw the replay, it was a really cool shot.
We have transfers on the 9th of July but the Americans that are going home this change are leaving on July 3rd so they can be home for the 4th of July.

Next week I will really try to focus on the Fast, I always complained about fasting when I was at home but in the mission it's a lot harder in the sense that we walk so much more and it really takes away your energy. I will really try not to complain and focus on the true meaning of the Fast. Thank you for that talk that you sent me, in your email you wrote Elder Wirthlin 2011, I was thinking there is no way he was alive in 2011 but it was 2001.

I hope you guys have a great week, and summer. I love you all,

Elder Weston
